Training Scholarships for New UNI’s Students

The Chamber of Mines will provide training scholarships to new students who were admitted in the 2017-I School Admission modality.

The Chamber of Mines of Peru shows its commitment to encourage training in the mining sector. That is why CAMIPER has undertaken to deliver free training scholarships to incoming students in the 2017 – I UNI School Admission modality.

To commemorate this event, the Chamber of Mines of Peru President, Mr. César Gallardo, was invited to participate in the award ceremony held for new the students.

“We have a very important agreement with Peru’s Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (UNI). It focuses on the development of future professionals who will make our country grow. We have seen up close the hard work that this important institution does on behalf of its students. The Chamber of Mines wants to continue contributing to this goal. Therefore, we will grant full training scholarships in on-campus and online courses for each of the incoming students. This opportunity will allow them to get to know the mining sector more closely,” stated Mr. Cesar Gallardo.

“Peru has an enormous potential in mining and we still have a lot to develop. To achieve this, constant training is important to allow us to face the challenges that the sector offers us. That the Chamber of Mines works arduously to achieve this,” he added.

An opportunity to keep growing

Following the event, Mr. César Gallardo met with Sergio Yanac, one of the incoming students awarded with the scholarships. He is now a student at the Faculty of Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Engineering with a major in Mining Engineering.

Sergio was very grateful for the opportunity provided by the Peruvian Mining Chamber; since he will be able to acquire new knowledge and access to a training course developed by specialists in the extractive industries.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity offered by the Chamber of Mines of Peru. To continue with our education and keeping us up-to-date with the new trends in the sector. In addition, I congratulate the constant work carried out by the institution in favor of responsible and sustainable mining,” declared Yanac.

Following the event, Mr. Gallardo alongside the university’s Dean toured the facilities of the Museum of Art and Culture “Ing. Eduardo de Habich”. This museum was named as its founder and first Dean.

During the tour, the new students, accompanied by the executives and the President of the Chamber of Mines of Peru visited the facilities of the cultural center and admired the collection from the former office of Eduardo de Habich. The Polish engineer was a virtuous man who greatly contributed to the foundation of the Escuela Especial de Ingenieros de Construcciones Civiles y de Minas de Lima (Special School of Civil Construction Engineers and Mines of Lima), now called Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (National University of Engineering).
