New on-site Diploma Course of the Chamber of Mines of Peru aims to reduce conflict costs.
The Chamber of Mines of Peru launches a new on-site diploma course “Tools for Mining Conflict Resolution” in order to reduce conflict costs and consequences in work teams, unions, communities and different organizations.
As part of the Chamber of Mines of Peru strategic objectives, we provide the necessary tools to actors directly involved in the mining sector, so they can be constantly trained. When completing the on-site diploma course, students will be able to successfully resolve conflicts in the mining sector, personal life, work teams (intra and inter teams), unions, communities and other organizations. Likewise, they will be able to analyze specific case study of each problem, respond proactively and position your transformational leadership by using alternative conflict resolution mechanisms.

The diploma course has six units, which includes the following subjects:
Unit I
Conflict is inevitable since it’s an inherent part of interpersonal, corporate and social relationships. It’s a continuous adjustment to internal and external reality since everything is in movement and continuously changing.
Since we’re not exempt from this in mining, we’ll develop the following subjects
Unit II
This course offers the possibility to enhance participation, transform the organizational culture, which implies decision-making and communication skills, as well as taking right decisions.
The following alternative methods in mining conflict resolution will be developed:
Unit III
Affective and effective communication plays an important role when resolving any conflict. Therefore, the practice of all communication skills will be essential for a proper conflict resolution process in the mining world of work, as well as in the prevention and tasks distribution within the mining industry; in that way you’ll be able to lead mining work teams in order to empower them.
For that reason, the workshops will be conducted according to the types of mining conflicts.
Unit IV
Round tables for dialogue and concerted action in mining are part of the peace culture. Therefore, they involve a series of values, attitudes and behaviors rejecting violence and preventing conflicts by trying to attack their causes to solve problems through dialogue, roundtables and negotiation between individuals, groups and communities.
Consequently, this course will address knowledge and recognition of mining social conflicts to seek approaches and solutions. Workshops according to the types of mining conflicts will be developed.
Unit V
This method applied to the mining sector seeks the consensus among stakeholders, through roundtables for a sustainable development of organizations and communities near the mining activity areas, and thus to avoid social conflicts, or otherwise to seek the most effective solutions. Likewise, workshops according to the types of mining conflicts will be developed.
Unit VI
This course aims to analyze mining conflict cases, seek the most effective solutions and discuss practical cases from Peru and Latin America. These subjects will be developed:
