The Director of Safety in this institution unveils plan for 2018

Engineer Alberto Ccahuana, Director of Mining Safety at The Chamber of Mines of Peru, is optimistic about the future.

Engineer Alberto Ccahuana, Director of Mining Safety at The Chamber of Mines of Peru is optimistic about 2018 in terms of mining. He expressed, “We are delighted that we had prepared as many activities and training sessions that are vital to foster a risk prevention culture. The aim is to prevent accidents or incidents at the workplace.”

“In 2018, we are looking forward to preparing more educational activities, signing agreements with universities and building bridges, along with strengthening ties with experts as to optimize mining processes and improve safety and occupational health,” concluded Ccahuana.

Alberto Ccahuana, Director of Mining Safety, is an engineer graduated from Daniel Alcides Carrion National University. He served as Manager of Occupational Health and Safety for Aurífera Retamas Mining Company. Ccahuana also held the position of Surface and Underground Mining Safety Manager at Hochschild Mining PLC.

The Chamber of Mines of Peru Projects in 2018

In 2018, The Chamber of Mines of Peru will foster strategic partnerships that improve mine safety with the aim to reduce the high numbers of work-related accidents, which have increased over the last few years.

The following are part of the training programs: Mining Management; Health, Safety and Environment Management in Mining; and Behavioral Safety in Mining. The latter focuses on developing strategies that lead to safety behaviors in mining.

Meanwhile, Cesar Gallardo, our CEO, expressed that it is vital to build a safety culture at workplace. Gallardo said, “Our aim is to contribute beyond the Mining Safety Regulations. We seek to convey the knowledge of our experts and members of associations through an effective program that diminishes mining accidents.”
