The Andean Parliament and The Chamber of Mines regarding virtual education

Members of the Andean Parliament and The Chamber of Mines of Peru participated in the 1st International Seminar on «Retos para la Educación Universitaria en un Mundo Competitivo» (Challenges for a Higher Education in a Competitive World). This event was carried out in the Grau Hall of the Congress of the Republic of Peru and it addressed the technological advance and its relationship with education.

This event was organized by Jorge Luis Romero Castro, member of the Andean Parliament and Vice-president of the Commission on Human Rights of the Parliament. Dr. Daniel Machado, Executive President of Grendal University of the United States; Mr. Christian Pacheco, Director of Coordination and Quality Promotion of University Higher Education; and Lic. María Luz Del Sol, personal coach and holistic therapist, stood out among the international speakers.

The Chamber of Mines of Peru and the Andean Parliament participated in this event where several topics such as Digital University; University Reform: Advance and Challenges; Obstacles faced by University students; and the Challenges of the University Education with the University Law 30220 were included. This law regulates the creation, operation, supervision and closure of universities; in addition, it promotes the continuous improvement of education quality in universities as main research and culture entities. Likewise, it establishes the principles, purposes and roles that govern the university’s institutional model.

The Andean Parliament and The Chamber of Mines of Peru in favor of virtual education

During his participation, Romero, member of the Parliament said: «The world is changing today. New programs and applications making things easier for us appear every day. For this reason, technology must have a special role in the education system, otherwise we will be left behind in the world».

He also said the use of online technologies cannot be denied in undergraduate degree programs. «It must be considered if an online career cannot be developed, we will be lagging behind in a competitive world as the one we have today. Nowadays a career is required to be 50% on-site and 50% online. We will intend to modify law parameters that prohibit students to have a career 100% online», said Romero.

At the end of his participation, Romero addressed a few words to our institution, «I want to congratulate The Chamber of Mines of Peru, its Directors and all the teaching staff, for their initiative of providing education with technology, because this way they are working in favor of Peru’s incorporation in the world».

It is important to mention that as part of its educational work, The Chamber of Mines of Peru has been successfully using online education. Thanks to our fourteen years of experience and our great teaching staff, consisting of outstanding researchers and scientists, who provide personalized mentoring to every student, we are able to optimize costs and time in the education process.
