Study trip for Master’s Degree graduates

The Chamber of Mines of Peru organizes a study and institutional relations trip to South Africa for three of its graduates from the Master’s Degree in Mining.

The three graduates from the Master’s Degree are: Christian Díaz (Peru), Mariela Ledesma (Argentina)and Claudio Barria (Chile). They participated in Joburg Indaba 2018, one of the most important international mining conferences in the world.

“I was very motivated by the invitation made by The Chamber of Mines of Peru. It was really an unforgettable experience to cross the ocean and arrive in a country with so much mining potential such as South Africa”, said Mariela Ledesma.

They were 3 days in which our graduates were able to learn about important aspects of globalized mining. Not only that, but they were able to share experiences with mining professionals from all over the world as part of the tireless days.

Master’s Degree graduates at the best companies

Christian Díaz works at Buenaventura mining company, Mariela Ledesma at Barrick mining company, and Claudio Barria at CODELCO.

“I think this study trip for graduates as well as the opportunity to be in South Africa fulfilled my expectations. It was really interesting to learn about the enormous influence of mining in the African context and to be able to share the Peruvian reality”, said motivated graduate Christian Diaz.

At Inanda Club, a peaceful and comfortable convention center located in the suburbs of Johannesburg, the event had a clear objective: to be a meeting point for industry leaders.

Also, it should be mentioned that the topics developed were planned because of the importance of zero accident policies in the operations. Likewise, the irruption of technologies such as artificial intelligence in mining was also mentioned. In other words, topics that are currently being discussed in the highest management spheres of the industry.

For The Chamber of Mines of Peru, it is important that the graduates from its Master’s Degrees enjoy the experience of mining abroad, as well as increase their contact base.
