Jorge Alva, rector of the National University of Engineering, is now a member of the Chamber of Mines of Peru.
Mr. Jorge Alva Hurtado, Rector of the National University of Engineering (UNI), joins the Advisory Council of the Chamber of Mines of Peru. The incorporation ceremony of Rector Alva was held during the inauguration of II GEOMET International Mining Congress 2016; event held at the Grand Theater of the UNI.
Rector Alva is a civil engineer from the UNI and holds a Master’s Degree on Science with mention in Structures. In addition, he has a Master of Science with mention in Materials Testing and a PhD from the University of Massachusetts (USA). He also studied Geotechnical Engineering at the Ministry of Construction of Japan. In 2009 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Engineering by the Association of Engineers of Peru.
The incorporation of Rector Alva Hurtado joins that of outstanding specialists such as Mrs. Xennia Forno and Mr. Luis Alva Florian. Mrs. Forno is a specialist in Mining and Environmental Law, and Mr. Alva Florian is a specialist in Mining Management and Operations. Eng. Cesar Gallardo Vela, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Mines of Peru, and Mr. Carlos Castagnola, advisor to the Cultural Commission of the Congress also members of the Advisory Council.
“With the incorporation of rector of the UNI, the Advisory Council of our institution is ready to develop a permanent integration agenda; this should link all sectors of society in favor of a global and sustainable mining activity. It must also prioritize the optimization of resources and the relation with the communities and the environment”, said the chief executive officer, Cesar Gallardo.
Rector Alva highlighted the work that the Chamber of Mines of Peru has been doing for more than 15 years. These refer to all the efforts linked to the development of clean and efficient mining activities for the benefit of the population. “And in this purpose we will focus our efforts as members of the Advisory Council of the Chamber of Mines of Peru”, he assured.
Mr. Alva was accompanied at the Table of Honor by the president of the Advisory Council of the Chamber of Mines of Peru, Mr. Cesar Campos; the ambassador and past-president of the Advisory Council of the Chamber of Mines of Peru, Mr. Luis Iberico Nuñez.
Also Guido Del Castillo, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UNI, Edgardo de Habich Ambassador and writer, Countess Isabel de Mauleon de Bruyeres, and Clayton Galván Congressman, were present among other personalities.
