Complejo minero de Huanuni recibe visita técnica de nuestros funcionarios

Representatives of the Chamber of Mines of Peru made a technical visit to the Huanuni mining complex, which belongs to the Mining Corporation of Bolivia (COMIBOL). During such visit, they were able to learn about the tin extraction processes carried out at the mine.

The mining town of Huanuni, also known as Villa Huanuni, is the capital of the First Municipal Section of the Pantaleón Dalence Province in the Department of Oruro. It is located southeast of the city of Oruro.

Huanuni is considered the largest tin mine in Bolivia. This year it had a budget of US$1.94 billion for its operation and achieved profits of US$70 million, or 3.6% of the invested amount.

In September of this year, COMIBOL announced that it planned to activate a US$50 million expansion of the Huanuni mining complex. It was estimated that tests at the Lucianita mill would begin in a few months. The Lucianita mill is intended to double processing capacity to 3,000 t/d.

Huanuni Mining Complex and other COMIBOL Projects

COMIBOL is currently developing several successful mining projects, such as Huanuni, Corocoro, Eucalyptus, Lithium Pilot Plant, among others.

Each one of them is carried out with the mission of developing the productive chain of state mining in Bolivia. The aim is to achieve higher levels of production, strengthening and promoting the diversification of mining and metallurgical activities.

In this way, an efficient operations management such as the Huanuni Mining Complex contributes to the generation of economic surpluses, contributing to the development of the country, with social and environmental responsibility.

The COMIBOL’s objectives end up aligned with those of the Chamber of Mines of Peru, as we work for the integration of all stakeholders that are related to the mining sector, in order to contribute to the development of an extractive activity with social and environmental responsibility, in a context of global integration, promoting mining for everyone.
