The Chamber of Mines of Peru offered a leadership training course at Universidad Técnica de Oruro (UTO) in Bolivia. The workshop entitled “Professional leadership for the mining sector” was given by Dr. Carlos Castagnola, Director of Postgraduate Studies of The Chamber of Mines of Peru.
The leadership course taught by The Chamber of Mines was attended by professors and students from Universidad Técnica de Oruro. The wide experience and knowledge shared by Dr. Castagnola allowed attendees to update their knowledge on leadership in the mining industry.
The Chamber of Mines of Peru is aware of the importance of the holistic training of professionals. Currently, graduates from the region’s universities acquire a great number of specialized knowledge; however, they neglect other aspects such as the role of leadership. This has an impact on their insertion and permanence in the labor market.
Wide experience of the person in charge of teaching the leadership course
Dr. Castagnola is an expert in ontological coaching for the mining sector, leadership in mining, teamwork, emotional intelligence, creativity and innovation, paradigms and change management to achieve success in mining. He also has solid experience in mining companies such as Colquiri, from Bolivia, and Doe Run Perú.
Likewise, the leadership trainer has done training and consulting work for companies such as Compañía Minera San Ignacio de Morococha S.A.A. (SIMSA), Corporación Minera de Bolivia (COMIBOL), the mining company Colquiri S.A., the Bolivia’s Mining and Metallurgy Ministry is, among others. He is an international consultant in development and mining projects, with more than 27 years in the field of politics and education.
At the end of the leadership training course offered by The Chamber of Mines, those attending the event received their respective certificates of participation.

For this reason, it strengthens the training of students from different Latin American countries.
