The Congress brings together more than 400 participants from 14 countries, including Peru, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Bolivia, Spain and Central America.
Keeping its firm commitment to mining development and training, the Chamber of Mines of Peru successfully inaugurated the III International Mining Congress GEOMET 2021. This event is held from April 19 to 23 and brings together more than 400 participants from 14 countries, such as Peru, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Bolivia, Spain and Central America.
In this edition, the objective of our institution is to present solutions and guidelines that contribute to international mining development. Even in complicated contexts for the sector, such as those we are currently experiencing.
“We cannot control political instability or the lack of investment promotion, which are currently occurring”, said Ing. César Gallardo Vela, President & CEO of the Chamber of Mines of Peru, during the inauguration of the III International Mining Congress GEOMET 2021; “but we can prepare ourselves to optimize our processes, reducing costs and being creative to solve the problems we face in our companies”, he added.
As part of its efforts to promote mining for everyone, the Chamber of Mines of Peru, which is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary, is developing various topics relevant to the industry. Among these topics are the optimization and reduction of costs in mining operations, safety plans, mining emergencies, occupational health, as well as legal and administrative aspects in times of Covid-19.
For this purpose, the congress included the presence of renowned speakers of outstanding international trajectory in the sector from the first day, who demonstrated their ability in each of the topics raised in the short courses and plenary sessions of the International Mining Congress.
Such is the case of Dr. Filiberto Mata (Mexico), who gave a presentation at GEOMET 2021 entitled “Evaluation of deposits by implementing mining software: Success stories of mining companies Santa Francisca and Real de Ángeles.”
Likewise, the current director of energy efficiency projects of SmartCity, Mg. Carlos Andrés Tabares (Colombia), who gave a presentation entitled “A global and strategic vision in Maintenance and Asset Management.”
During the first day of the International Mining Congress, the Chilean MBA Kurt Goldman, director of training and education of the Chamber of Mining of Peru, also participated. Based on his experience of more than 15 years in the sector, he taught the course “Management Skills in Mining” at GEOMET 2021.
In addition, in each presentation, the speakers were able to answer the questions asked by the audience. It should be noted that this edition of the congress was attended by various representatives of the companies in the sector, as well as members of the rural communities and State authorities.
Finally, it should be noted that this year the congress will be held through a complete virtual platform. This allows GEOMET 2021 participants a series of advantages, such as accessing the contents of the congress at any time.
