Dean of UNH highlights agreement with our institution

“There are already 1,000 students and 200 graduates in Master’s Degrees from The Chamber of Mines of Peru,” said Dr. Valencia.

Dean of UNH highlights agreement with our institution

The Chamber of Mines of Peru received a visit from the Dean of Universidad Nacional de Huancavelica (UNH), Dr. Nicasio Valencia, to analyze the results of the collaboration agreement signed by both institutions two years ago.

The purpose of this agreement is to provide more complete and specialized training for professionals in the sector through a Master’s Degree program. In this way, students will obtain the necessary knowledge to be able to apply it in their work centers and optimize production processes, as well as contribute to cost reduction.

As a result of his visit, Dr. Valencia expressed his great satisfaction at the growing number of participants and graduates in more than 15 Latin American countries. This is a clear and undeniable sign of the program’s effectiveness.

“For me, as Dean of UNH, it is a great satisfaction to know that there are highly favorable reviews from graduates about these programs. It is also a great pleasure to know that these Master’s Degrees have an increasing number of participants; and proof of this is that in Latin America and Spain we have more than 1,000 current students and more than 200 graduates. In this way, we hope to continue providing a quality service for a good training of professionals,” said Dr. Nicasio Valencia.

Dean of UNH highlights the quality of the teachers of The Chamber of Mines of Peru

He also pointed out that one of the main factors that make the success of this Master’s Degree program possible is the quality and permanent renewal of the teachers who impart their knowledge to the students, thus contributing to the formation of more complete professionals prepared to successfully face the current challenges posed by the mining industry.

“The Master’s Degrees that are part of the program established in the agreement between The Chamber of Mines of Peru and UNH have professionals of high academic and operational quality. They have broad professional experience, both in the field of teaching and in the practical aspect of mining operations. This combination has enhanced the training of the students and the result is that the graduates contribute, through their knowledge, to increase solutions in the companies in which they work,” affirmed the Dean of UNH.

International validation

Dr. Nicasio Valencia also highlighted the benefit for students of “validating the studies carried out and the information received in different countries of the world, after validation with the respective universities or corresponding entities. This will allow graduates, through this agreement, to have access to jobs in prestigious companies in the corresponding countries, which makes this type of training of great interest to students.

The Dean of UNH also emphasized the structure of the curriculum of the Master’s Degree program. This was designed so that students can obtain benefits in their work center from the very beginning, since these programs include practical application courses from the start and not general subjects.

In this way, they apply the knowledge received to contribute to the solution of problems or to optimize existing production processes.

This becomes a differential factor in relation to similar programs offered by other institutions, where the student is forced to take general subjects with little application in their daily work.

“We have considered all specialty courses, subjects that are applicable and useful for professionals in their respective workplaces, basically oriented to solve mining production problems. For this reason, we have left out the general courses, because they are supposed to have already been reviewed in undergraduate studies. This seeks to give greater importance to subjects that will be of professional and labor utility for the students, which ends up becoming a strength of these Master’s Degrees,” expressed with satisfaction the current Dean of UNH.

Review that validates our contribution

This selection of subjects of practical application has allowed professionals in the sector to optimize the performance of operations in their mining projects. Such is the case of engineer David Baralt, General Manager of Panamá Desarrollo de Infraestructura, who stated that “thanks to the training received at The Chamber of Mines of Peru, I saved drilling costs by more than 50% and increased drilling 3 times.”

Thus, it can be seen that the Master’s Degree Program of The Chamber of Mines of Peru has been structured to impart a series of knowledge of immediate and practical application in the development of extractive projects, which increases the profitability of operations and optimizes the entire production process.
