The Chamber of Mining of Peru developed the course “Economics of Minerals”, given by engineer Edmundo Tulcanaza, in the auditorium of the Ministry of Mining and Metallurgy in La Paz. The engineer is also director of Mining Management of our institution.
The expert explained topics such as mineral prices, cycles and the current state of the region, mainly referring to the countries of Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Ecuador.
The event was attended by mine managers, senior executives and professionals from the Bolivian mining sector. Thanks to the session given by engineer Tulcanaza, the attendees were able to update their knowledge regarding the environment that generates uncertainty in the mining business, as well as the use of strategies for the development of opportunities and challenges in order to increase profitability in the mining industry.
Tulcanaza has been a manager and senior consultant at Codelco, Chile. He is also a representative of CIRSCO and CEO of the Center of Mining Studies, in Chile. He has also worked in international engineering companies such as Davy, Fluor, Bechtel, Pincock, Allen & Holt, Ingendesa, among others.
The consultant is a specialist in Mining Project Evaluation from the Society of Applied and Industrial Mathematics (SMAI) in France, as well as in Geostatistics from the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines in Paris.
Ramiro Paredes Zárate, manager of Ferreco (Regional Federation of Gold Mining Cooperatives) commented on the meeting held in Bolivia. “It is a great opportunity to have the training provided by The Chamber of Mines of Peru. This type of course helps us a lot in our professional activity”, said Paredes, who referred to the course on “Mineral Economics” course.
On the other hand, Sergio Sánchez, representative of the mining company Inti Raymi, hopes “that there will be more courses organized by the institution in Bolivia”.
