Congress of the Republic recognizes the work of main national artists

Last Friday, May 12, in the “Raúl Porras Barrenechea” Hall of the Congress of the Republic, the President of the Committee on Culture and Cultural Heritage, Francesco Petrozzi, recognized the contribution and trajectory of the most outstanding Peruvian artists.

Because art and culture are always present in any place and allow us to spend and live moments that color life. And for this, it is necessary the participation of people who are in charge of executing such an important work in the development of society.

For this reason and in gratitude for this praiseworthy work, the Congress recognized those who have excelled in different areas with their art and talent. Among them are Julie Freundt, Adriana Esther Dávila Cossío (Bartola), Carlos Gassols, Oswaldo Cattone, Haydeé Cáceres Oblitas, Yvonne Frayssinet, Alberto Ísola, Bruno Odar, Javier Valdés, among the most recognized.

Also, the Congress of the Republic recognized the entities that serve as cradle of study to develop art and culture in the country. For example, the National Ballet, the Lima Theater Club, the National Conservatory of Music, the Superior School of Dramatic Art, and on this special occasion, the Piura Symphony Orchestra.

The Chamber of Mines of Peru present in recognition of Peruvian artists

The Chamber of Mines of Peru attended this important event through the Secretary General of the Advisory Council of our institution, Dr. Carlos Castagnola, who is also an advisor to the Committee on Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Congress.

It is worth mentioning that both Dr. Castagnola and Congressman Petrozzi have been working together, through the institutions they each represent, to organize the next Art, Culture and Mining Forum “Arc – Mine 2017.” This event will be held from June 23 to 25 at the Congress of the Republic. There, the main initiatives of contributions to the dissemination and protection of culture made by mining entrepreneurs and institutions in the country will be discussed and recognized.

For this ceremony, the Piura Symphony Orchestra was invited, whose members came to Lima to be recognized for their important contribution to the musical culture. The occasion also served to delight the awarded artists and the audience with the most beautiful interpretations. In fact, the musical composition ‘Guillermo Tell’, by Gioachino Rossini, which was conducted by the host of the gala, Francesco Petrozzi, stood out.

Congress of the Republic working on behalf of culture

The event was also an opportunity for the Peruvian congressman and tenor to announce some of the legislative activities he has carried out and has been carrying out in Congress. For example, the General Law of the National Library of Peru has recently been enacted, which he considers a birth certificate despite the fact that it was created in 1821. He is also working on the law that will turn the National Conservatory of Music into a university, among others.

Petrozzi also took the opportunity to indicate that the Art Worker’s Law is being worked on, “no longer the artist’s law; since we are professional workers like any other worker in Peru. Today this has become an art industry and it has to be regulated.”

Finally, in another moment of the ceremony at the Congress of the Republic, Congressman Petrozzi, highlighted the realization of the Art, Culture and Mining Forum “Arc – Mine 2017.” “It is very important and remarkable that The Chamber of Mines of Peru is interested in culture, art and artists; and that today there is a commission president who opens the doors for them. This makes it a new beginning for the collaboration between mining and art. We need people and institutions supporting us to emerge. I find the event important and very interesting and I must emphasize that I have been working with you since the beginning of my administration; and I will continue to do so, because I am sure that you can become one of the most important pillars of culture in Peru.”
