The Peruvian Mining Chamber was present at the 2016-2021 swearing-in ceremony.
The Chamber of Mines of Peru, as part of its strategic alliance with the Congress of the Republic, was present at the Inauguration Ceremony of the 130 congressmen elected for the period 2016-2021. The presence of the CMP’s members in the Chamber of the National Parliament was aimed at establishing collaborative alliances with the members of the parties. As well as to promote support for a profitable, responsible, and sustainable mining activity. Which should continue to be one of the main contributions to the economic and social development of Peru.
Engineer César Gallardo Vela, Executive Director of the Chamber of Mines of Peru, along with the members of our institution, had the privilege of being present at such historical event for the democratic and economic future of Peru in the short, medium, and long term. The Board of Directors was chaired by Kenji Fujimori. Who, being the congressman with the highest number of votes during the last electoral process, was appointed its President.
The representative of Fuerza Popular was followed by the other members of the Board of Directors: Rómulo Apaza, from the Frente Amplio (secretary), as the oldest congressman, and José Palma from Fuerza Popular, as second secretary in his capacity as the youngest legislator.
One by one the new congressmen passed by, winning the applause of their colleagues, after reciting the sacred oath. Which forces them to work for the common good of all Peruvians for the next five years. More than one recalled their origins when passing in front of the stage. For example, Congresswoman María Aramayo, from Fuerza Popular, remembered the men and women of Arequipa, the region for which she was elected.
Parliamentarian Tania Pariona, elected by the party Frente Amplio in Ayacucho, gave one of the most applauded oaths of the afternoon. First in Quechua and then in Spanish, she indicated her hopes that there will no longer be any kind of terrorism in Peru. “For Cayara, Ayacucho and our Quechua, Aymara and Amazonian people. For a future without terrorism of any kind, neither subversive nor of the State”, she declared. Before the thunderous and prolonged signs of approval from those present.
Undoubtedly, since Fuerza Popular is now the main party in the Congress of the Republic, the swearing in its members was the most applauded in demonstration of a strategic alliance in favor of democracy. It was also the case of the reelected congresswoman and the highest candidate to occupy the Presidency of Parliament, Luz Salgado. Who expressed briefly “Yes, I swear”, before the cheers of her supporters.
Another member of the Fujimori party who enjoyed majority approval was Yeni Vilcatoma, a former anti-corruption attorney. Who indicated: “For a frontal fight against corruption, I swear”. Finally, the legislator, Cecilia Chacón, also won the applause of the other members of her party by taking the oath asking for the constitution of a reconciled and united Peru.
Thus, the figures in the Congress of the Republic were given by 73 legislators from Fuerza Popular, 20 from the Frente Amplio, 18 from Peruanos por el Kambio (PPK), 9 from Alianza Para el Progreso (APP). Also, 5 of Popular Action and 5 of the Aprista Party.
They introduced themselves before the members of the Board of Directors, the other parliamentarians, and the nation.
At the end of this Swearing-In Ceremony, Eng. César Gallardo, in company of members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Mines, met with several of the elected congressmen such as Francesco Petrozzi, Carlos Tubino and Luz Salgado. In addition, from Modesto Figueroa, Rosa Bartra, candidate for the first vice presidency of the Congress of the Republic, of the Fuerza Popular party, Gloria Montenegro, elected by Alianza para el Progreso, to express their congratulations on the position obtained and, likewise, to establish the bases that allow and facilitate the development of new mining projects and alliances. Which will benefit the business sector and the communities of Peru in general.
The Executive Director also had a meeting with Susana Higuchi, a former congresswoman. He congratulated her for the work carried out by his son, Kenji Fujimori. Which, presided over the Board of Directors before which the legislators who will dictate the destiny of Peru during the next five years were sworn in.
