The Congress of the Republic of Peru awarded Medal and Diploma of Honor to Eng. Cesar Gallardo Vela, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Mines of Peru. This recognition on behalf of the Congress of the Republic, for his permanent and successful contribution in favor and development of responsible mining with a sense of solidarity.
The award, made by the President of the Congress, Mr. Luis Iberico Nuñez, was an act of recognition and justice towards the management of Eng. Cesar Gallardo Vela, at the head of the Chamber of Mines of Peru, since he has promoted the development of tools that allow the continuous training of all those related to the mining sector. As well as the creation and promotion of social and environmental responsibility plans.
It has also contributed to improving the relationship between the companies in the sector, the communities and the State. In this way promoting responsible mining as a fundamental part for the development of Peru; finally, the work, in a comprehensive manner, of the strategic and investment projects among the representatives of the mining sector.
This distinction received only confirms the importance of the vision that Eng. Cesar Gallardo Vela has and promotes, on the philosophy that should be used during the development of mining operations; to contribute to the consolidation of a solidary and responsible extractive industry: «We will devote our lives to promote the development of our country through mining with social responsibility and environmental protection. A mining industry that promotes investment in Peru, that promotes the sustainability of the communities near the areas of extractive activity, which respects the laws and regulations dictated by the State», mentioned Eng. Gallardo.

The President of the Congress, Mr. Luis Iberico Nuñez, also offered a few words to the outstanding work being developed by our institution. «For me it is an honor to be on this podium. I have no doubt about the constructive, visionary and highly profitable contribution to the mining activity in our country. For this reason, I congratulate the Chamber of Mines of Peru for its courageous initiative to lead a process of change».
As an example of the contribution developed by the Chamber of Mines of Peru to achieve a more responsible and sustainable mining industry, we can mention the training programs for students of various universities in northern, central and southern Peru, with the aim of training future professionals more committed to improving the standard of living of communities and preserving the development of the environment.
Likewise, the medal and diploma awarded by the Congress to Engineer Cesar Gallardo mark a historic event for the prestige and institutional development of the Chamber of Mines of Peru.
Finally, we can also mention the social responsibility programs carried out, with our own resources, in the communities near the mining projects, to provide training to the inhabitants and allow them to optimize their economic, cultural and social activities, thus contributing to the sustainable development of these populations.
