Chamber of Mines of Peru Grants Recognition to Engineer Guido del Castillo

For promoting Peru’s ancestral culture and art through mining.

Engineer Guido del Castillo, President of both the Board of the UNI and the “Andrés del Castillo” Association, was recognized by the CMP for the 8th anniversary of his museum “Andrés del Castillo”. The CMP’s Executive Director, Eng. César Gallardo Vela, gifted him a commemorative painting.

“For us, being part of the “Andrés del Castillo” museum’s 8th anniversary is very important. This entity guards, promotes and preserves our country’s ancestral culture. This aligns with the objectives of the CMP to spread art and culture through mining. I congratulate my friend Guido del Castillo for this important celebration. For being an ambassador of the national culture”, expressed the Executive Director while presenting Eng. Guido del Castillo with a commemorative painting that represents all his hard work in favor of the preserving and rescuing the cultural heritage of Peru.

“I would like to thank Ing. César Gallardo, for this memorable present. We both consider of utmost importance to spread the millenary culture that our country presents and what better way to do it than in our marvelous exhibition, which is considered one of the most important in Latin America”, stated the renowned Engineer Guido del Castillo.

The also President of the “Andrés del Castillo” Association signed an agreement with the Ministry of Culture.

This agreement seeks the preservation and conservation, through enhancing the value and construction, of cultural centers to merge them into the life of the community. There are four cultural heritages of Lima and Callao: Huaca “Garagay”, “Pampa de los Perros”, “Cerro Culebra” and “El Paraíso

About the Museum

Headed by the Engineer Guido del Castillo and inaugurated on November 8, 2006. The “Andrés del Castillo” museum has the most important collection of crystallized minerals in the country. The collection includes the Fluorescent room where minerals with luminescent properties are exhibited. It also features the Chancay pottery room and the Dress room in Ancient Peru.

The museum presents a collection that consists exclusively of crystallized minerals. The same ones that include miniatures, cabinet specimens, even pieces of extraordinary quality. In addition to native minerals, and gold and silver pieces extracted in the department of Madre de Dios. It also has an exhibition of sculpture and ceramic pieces from a representative culture of the Chancay valley, on the central coast of Peru.

Finally, the room called “Vestimenta en el Antiguo Perú” (Clothing in Ancient Peru) presents some garments used by the inhabitants of pre-Hispanic cultures. The quality and exquisiteness of the fabrics demonstrate the great mastery and art of the Peruvian textile recognized by the whole world.
