Arab Mining 2021 attended by officials of the Chamber of Mines of Peru

Our officials held networking meetings with important representatives of the Arab mining industry.

Continuing with our planning of activities related to the consolidation of our development projects in the world, officials of the Chamber of Mines of Peru participated in the Arab Mining Convention 2021. This important mining event, took place from February 24 to 26, which focused on investment, technology and sustainability of the Arab mining industry, and brought together the main mining companies from the five continents, as well as authorities, investors, trade associations and opinion leaders in the sector.

Thus, at the Arab Mining Convention 2021, the Chamber of Mines of Peru shared experiences with renowned companies in the global mining sector, such as Rio Tinto, Ma’aden, Michelin, Goldspot, World Coal Association, British Geological Survey, among others.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the first edition of the AMC 2021 respected health safety and social distancing measures.

In this way, and taking advantage of digital resources, the officials of the Chamber of Mines of Peru were able to network at the Convention 2021. This activity was held with important representatives of the Arab mining industry; a sector that is in full swing and that awaits an exponential development in the coming years, as we could appreciate in the AMC 2021.

Because several Arab governments intend to diversify their economies through new mining codes and regulations that are attractive for investment in the region.

Such is the case, for example, of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Morocco, Jordan, Sudan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

Sharing valuable experiences at the Arab Mining Convention 2021

One of the presentations at the Arab Mining Convention 2021 was entitled “The importance of mining to diversify Arab economies and build for the future”; it was given by Khaled S. Alohali, Senior VP of Corporate affairs and communication of Ma’aden.

Thus, the Chamber of Mines of Peru was able to learn how the Arab mining industry manages the extractive activity; so that this exchange of knowledge at the Arab Mining Convention 2021 allows it to gather information that could be valuable to apply in our region.

In fact, the conferences at AMC 2021 addressed the latest trends in mining technology and sustainability.

AMC 2021 and Covid-19

To be aware of the current situation, the Arab Mining 2021 presented a conference on the health situation affecting the world. It was entitled “Challenges and opportunities for Arab mining companies during the Covid-19 pandemic”. It was given by Abdulaziz A. Al-Harbi, Executive VP of Corporate Services & Security of Ma’aden.

Other topics

Our officials were also able to learn about the best practices of digital transformation in mining at the Arab region. This is in line with our principle of maintaining our culture of innovation.

They also participated in the presentation on “Future Technologies and Trends: Drilling and Exploration Rigs” by Mithunraj Paranthaman, PRD Rigs of Global Business Development.

Of course, at the Arab Mining Convention 2021 there were also presentations related to mining safety. Such is the case of Anders Gulliksson, R & D Manager of Dafo Vehicle Fire Protection, who developed the topic “How do we create a safer environment with the new EV and HEV systems?”.
