Seminar on Effective Strategies to Achieve Success in Mining

The First Seminar «Effective Strategies to Achieve Success in the Mining Sector», held by the Chamber of Mines of Peru, was a resounding success on June 24 and 25 at the Raul Porras Barrenechea Hall of the Congress of the Republic.

More than 600 students from different universities in the country, as well as from different specialties related to the mining sector, attended the 15 lectures given by renowned speakers from Chile, Colombia and Peru. They offered tools that will allow them to successfully enter the working world; topics such as leadership, coaching, psychological tools, balanced scorecard, knowledge management, among others.

Effective Strategies for Success

The seminar «Effective Strategies for Success in the Mining Sector» was chaired by Mr. César Gallardo, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Mines of Peru. Due to the fact that the capacity of 300 people in the Raul Porras Barrenechea Hall was exceeded by more than 600 attendees. Likewise, the Congress set up other rooms where the presentations were broadcast.

During the presentations, topics such as: «Comprehensive Vision for the Development of the Mining Professional», by Mr. José Ignacio Noguera Gómez, Vice President of Corporate Affairs of Gran Colombia Gold Corporation; «Personal Branding of the Mining Professional» and «Decision Making and Conflict Management in the Mining Activity»; presented by MBA Kurt Goldman Zuloaga, Training Advisor of the Chamber of Mines of Peru.

Other topics presented were «Negotiation and Consensus Building in Mining» and «Balanced Scorecard for the Creation of Value in the Different Areas of the Mining Sector», by MBA Oscar Calero Revolledo. «Development of Self-Esteem and Self-Concept to Achieve Success in Mining» by Mg. Norma Córdova Bazo; «Emotional Intelligence Applied in Mining» by Mg. Ricardo Plaza Jibaja; and «Knowledge Management and Innovation to Achieve Success in the Mining Sector» by Ms. Carmen Reátegui Zevallos, Training Advisor of the Chamber of Mines of Peru.

According to Eng. Cesar Gallardo: «It is important to work in the classroom on coaching, knowledge management, conflict management, innovation and creativity in the mining sector in order to achieve success. Today’s world is in constant change, which forces all professionals to be trained in these thematic areas», he said.

The Congress of the Republic recognizes the importance of the seminar

For this event, the Chamber of Mines of Peru worked jointly with the State. Likewise, Congressman Omar Chehade, who was also one of those in charge of presiding over the opening ceremony. «I salute the Chamber of Mines of Peru and Eng. Cesar Gallardo for this seminar that promotes the development of the country and the future of young people. It is an important and vital initiative. I believe that a country cannot move forward without these training, coaching and leadership courses,» said Congressman Omar Chehade.

«I congratulate the Chamber of Mines of Peru for organizing this seminar, which seeks to form leaders through knowledge training. My greetings to all of you and I wish you the best and greatest success and invite students to attend this quality event», assured the President of the Congress, Luis Iberico.

It is worth mentioning that since the Chamber of Mines of Peru is the only organization that carries out this type of event and because of its commitment to the training and education of students linked to the mining sector, the Chamber of Mines of Peru agreed to hold more seminars like this one, which will also reach university centers all over Peru with the sole purpose of continuing with the training of students so that when they manage to enter the mining labor field, they can excel and, especially, be role models for other professionals.
