The Chamber of Mines of Peru, always committed to work in pro of the development of the mining sector with emphasis on mining safety, announces that as of this Monday, August 8th, Engineer Alberto Ccahuana Avila is part of its Technical Advisory Committee. The outstanding professional will become the Safety and Occupational Health Director.
Engineer Alberto Ccahuana, who is a mining engineer, has nearly 40 years of mining experience. He also has extensive expertise in the management of safety and occupational health programs.
During his outstanding career he served as Superintendent and Head of Safety and Hygiene at Minera Aurífera Retamas. He has also been Safety Manager at Compañía Minera Ares and Safety and Health Superintendent at Compañía Minera Arcata, just to mention some of his former positions.
Engineer Alberto Ccahuana’s agenda
The agenda for the coming months in the Technical Advisory Committee of the Chamber of Mines of Peru is quite extensive. Among the most relevant topics are the analysis and interpretation of the current Peruvian mining regulations; in addition to analyzing and proposing alternative solutions to the types of fatal accidents with the highest frequency rate, etc.
The arrival of engineer Alberto Ccahuana to the CMP strengthens the knowledge and training of the range of professionals of the institution. Additionally, the training is in line with the demands of the sector at a global level to work together for a sustainable development of mining.
It is worth mentioning that for 11 years the professionals of the Chamber of Mines have been pioneers in the development of postgraduate programs for the mining sector. The institution has a teaching staff of over 200 professionals who work in the most important mining companies in the world.
