Celebrations as part of the Commemoration of Winter Solstice, Ritual conducted by Ancient Peruvians.
A delegation of the Chamber of Mines of Peru, led by its president, Ing. César Gallardo Vela, attended the event at the archaeological site “El Paraíso”.
In a ceremony full of mysticism, the archaeological site “El Paraíso”, an archaeological site located on the left bank of the Chillón river, in the district of San Martín de Porres. It was again the scene of the celebrations commemorating the winter solstice.
The Chamber of mines of Peru was present at the event, represented by its President, Ing. César Gallardo. The President of the Andrés del Castillo Museum, Ing. Guido del Castillo and the Director of the Lima Art Museum, Natalia Majluf, who accompanied the Director of the “El Paraíso” Monumental Archaeological Zone Project, Dr. Joaquín Narváez, during the ceremony, also attended the event.
The event lent itself to the staging of the ceremony that was performed at the site by the ancient Peruvians. On this occasion, local people brought this ritual to life.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Culture has recently restarted the works for the enhancement of the archaeological monumental area of El Paraíso, in order to show the importance and cultural value of the archaeological monument located in the district of San Martin de Porres.
Four million soles have been allocated for research, proper conservation of the structures of the complex and dissemination of the works of the archaeological site that is 4,000 years old. In addition, circuits with panels and signage, including an interpretation center will be installed.
In addition, the monumental archaeological site is supported by the Andrés Del Castillo Museum, which within the framework of an inter-institutional agreement signed in 2015 with the Ministry of Culture, has been carrying out conservation, protection, conditioning, management and maintenance works, in addition to providing a cultural space to promote the development of the population and increase tourism activity in favor of the economy of local inhabitants.
It is also important to note that the El Paraíso archaeological site has been declared a Cultural Heritage of the Nation by means of National Resolution No. 233/INC.
The archaeological site El Paraíso corresponds to Late Pre-Ceramic Period and was occupied between 2,100 and 1,600 B.C. approximately. It is made up of 14 architectural units, including pyramid-shaped buildings distributed over 45.5 hectares, said the archaeologist Joaquín Narváez.
