Historical Mining Archive of Bolivia, located in El Alto, was visited by representatives of The Chamber of Mining of Peru.
The Chairman of The Chamber of Mining of Peru, engineer César Gallardo, visited the facilities of the Mining Historical Archive of Bolivia, located in El Alto. The archive belongs to Corporación Minera de Bolivia (COMIBOL).
Likewise, the historical facility houses material from several documentary collections. One of the most important is the “Corporación Minera de Bolivia (COMIBOL)” Fund, which was created with the documentary heritage of the nationalization of the Patiño, Hochschild and Aramayo mines.
“It is an honor for us to receive such an illustrious guest as engineer Gallardo. We thank him for his visit to the Mining Historical Archive”, said Edgar Ramírez, Director of the Archive.
“The vision of the National Mining Historical Archive is to organize the mining memory of the 20th century. It uses information sciences and universally accepted archival tools. In addition, the application of state-of-the-art technologies and trained personnel. Likewise, it is a vision that is currently being fulfilled in its different Regional Archives: La Paz, Oruro, Potosí, Catavi and Pulacayo” added Ramírez.
Among the materials that can be found on the shelves of the institution are property titles, maps and photographs that portray the history of Bolivian mining.
In addition, the COMIBOL Fund has inherited, fragmented and dispersed documents. Likewise, the new methodologies being applied are based on global and institutional standards. In order to have identified and classified documentation to be installed in the different repositories.
