Guillermo Casafranca, Director of Social Responsibility of The Chamber of Mines of Peru, promotes its creation.
Aware of its commitment to the country, The Chamber of Mines of Peru looks forward to continue collaborating with the development of responsible mining in the country; always with interesting proposals, such as the creation and execution of a Mining Observatory.
Because the commitment of The Chamber of Mines of Peru is the optimization and improvement of mining processes, the constant training in different areas, the sense of social responsibility, the improvement of the relationship between the company and the State, the promotion of a mining culture and the development of strategic investment projects.
For this reason, the Director of Social Responsibility of The Chamber of Mines of Peru, Mg. Guillermo Casafranca, considers that he has “the best prospects to continue collaborating in the development of projects and joint work, in order to move forward the issue of responsible mining in the country.”
“These types of issues should not remain in words or declarations. Several aspects were raised, such as having a Mining Observatory that can follow up compliance with the agreements reached by both companies and communities. This must be concretized with actions,” concluded Casafranca.
Guillermo Casafranca holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in Finance from ESAN University. He is also a consultant in corporate responsibility for “Perú 2021: una nueva vision” in the BID/FOMIN OEA Project; as well as a consultant for Projects for the Identification of Economic and Financial Tools for the Promotion of Environmental Policies of the Ministry of Environment of Peru.
Therefore, according to his experience, the contribution of a Mining Observatory in the sector would be of great importance.
On the other hand, Casafranca considers it very gratifying to have worked with The Chamber of Mines of Peru for many years. “I have met people who are very kind and very professional in their work. You not only contribute with your experience but also learn from others,” he added.
The holder of a Master’s Degree emphasizes the work of the institution in different cities of the country: “For years we have always talked about Lima’s centralism. This is something that this organization is, in a very positive way, helping to change”.
“The professionals trained in our regions are also very valuable and I believe that bringing to them the experiences of Lima contributes to this effective decentralization,” concluded Casafranca.
